Changes In-Game and Out
by Staxed on May.16, 2012, under Captain's Log, Character Updates, General
Sorry if the last few posts have been rather dry and lacking in tears, but hopefully soon I will be able to rectify that issue.
For those who read my last post, I finally figured out what to do in Eve this time around…and hopefully for good, I’m tired of starting new characters. 5 year player…1.1mil skill points…sucks.
But, before I get to what I’ve chosen, I might as well get the boring stuff out of the way.
Website:
I am going to keep the site on the same domain, I like it too much to abandon it. There will however be some changes around here. Starting with the design, as you can tell it’s already changed a bit…that’s because after a year of being gone, I had to update a bunch of stuff…and the old theme was outdated. So, while I work on an [awesome] replacement, this one will have to do.
Do to all the updating, please let me know if you see anything wrong with the site. I’m checking over stuff, but of course I might miss something and would greatly appreciate any extra eyes if I miss stuff.
Name Change:
I am no longer Cyberin. I was debating whether to talk about this or not, but I might as well get it out there. When I quit last time, I was sitting on a rather large pile of ISK. Part of my reasons for quitting were time/financial based…so…you can guess what I decided to do. All of my accounts have since been banned for obvious reasons (and if that’s not obvious to you, I’m sorry you are an idiot :p).
[EDIT FOR CLARITY - It was pointed out to me that the above part about RMT came off as possibly bragging about being spacerich and then just deciding to sell my ISK because I felt like it. I just wanted to correct that assumption. I did what I did because I had already decided to quit playing due to personal issues. At the time I had some important stuff come up that I needed some funds for which at the time overrode my dislike of RMT and a video game. I did what I did because it was the only logical thing for me to do at the time, since I didn't think I was going to be returning to EVE. I learned a hard lesson, have been punished severely for it, and it is in the past.]
My new character is Staxed, which is a name I’ve use for a very, very long time…just not in Eve…so now here I am!
My New Career:
Some of you may remember faintly my foray into being a Pirate. I briefly was a member of the Tuskers. I don’t remember what happened, it’s all foggy…but it didn’t last long and then I went to be a ninja again or something.
Well, I’m finally back to becoming a Pirate. All my time in EVE I’ve wanted to do it, never really have…not sure why, but it’s time to throw caution to the wind and jump in head first.
I’ve already lost 4 ships messing around, my skills suck (and I’m a bit rusty maybe?) but I’m having a blast so far.
So, from here on out, you can expect battle reports and hopefully the ever loved tears and sarcastic chat logs…as the newest member of the Black Rebel Rifter Club! And I must say, being in the midst of so many other bloggers who have the same goals and plans as I do is going to be refreshing!
Death and Rebirth
by Staxed on May.09, 2012, under Character Updates, General
So, I posted yesterday about my return to EVE. Wonder if anyone tried to contact me on Cyberin, if you did…I don’t have the character anymore (yay, chalk another SP loss up to the guy that’s been playing since 2007). It’s fun having less than a million SPs after playing for 5 years… (not…)
———-
What happened to Cyberin? Well…when I quit last time, and said I’d never be back (kudos to those that told me I was wrong)…I decided to cash out…I sold all my ISK (about 20bil if I remember correctly) for real money (dirty dirty RMTer!). I thought about petitioning CCP and trying to get the account back…but, after the recent RMT crack down…I figured I wouldn’t bother.
So, I’m back with a new character…and have no clue what I want to do in EVE this time around. Maybe I should start a bet about how long I’ll be around this time (hoping for a while, wife said it’s ok
).
———-
I burned a lot of bridges last time around with a few friends (namely the ninjas), and that style of life just doesn’t seem fun to me anymore…so I won’t be doing ninja stuff.
For the past few days I’ve been messing with PI and doing some missions while I work on core skills, and trying to figure out what to do. I might pickup scamming a bit, or maybe I’ll just go completely legit this time (/smirk).
I do know that I’ll have an alt or two focusing on industry/market related stuff to bring in the ISK…after that, I don’t know what to do right now. I enjoy too much stuff to make up my mind.
What would you guys like to see/read about? I’ve thought about making a new blog, starting off from scratch, and just posting about all sorts of stuff…involving everything I do. Need something to do that I can turn into entertaining posts at least
Anyone out there?
by Staxed on May.08, 2012, under General
Just figured I’d see how many people are still subscribed to my sadly dead for a long time blog
.
Good news…I’m back in EVE. Just trying to figure out if I’m going to start up this one again, or start a new blog. More details coming soon…for now, comment if you are still there
A picture’s worth a 100mil ISK and a Scorpion
by Staxed on Mar.02, 2011, under Scam
Ok, I’ve been having a lot of fun doing the scamming thing lately. I can’t believe I’ve never really put forth the tiny bit of effort that it requires before now. So, that’s one thing that I will be adding to the site, new scam reports. I’m not going to do it for every scam since most of them are pretty trivial and not that entertaining…so I’ll most likely wrap a few of them together from time to time in order to get a good post out of it.
This post, to start the Scam series off only contains one scam though…for the simple fact that I’ve made it a goal for myself to start including images in most of my posts…so wanted to start that process now rather than waiting down the line and deciding not to do it…
———-
So, you all should know about my recent 15 Billion ISK scam, if not…go read it if you want. This has gotten me hooked on doing the recruitment scams, and although a lot fail, always bet on stupid.
I normally just chill in the recruitment channel in game, but decided to hit up the recruitment forums themselves this time and it turned out to be a decent choice. I’m not sure if I will keep using the forum though, for the simple fact that the Misfits are currently recruiting and I’m not sure if people posting in their threads would hurt our recruitment that much (maybe maybe not…it could also work in our favor by turning people towards us that like this kind of thing…which is of course the type of people we are looking for).
Anyway, I didn’t have to look very far, as on the first page of the Recruitment Forums I found a mark. Mr. DingoGS, newly returning player looking for a corp out in 0.0 that is actually similar to the Misfits (he actually might have been a decent addition…other than the fact he wasn’t smart enough not to fall for a recruitment scam…if he had said no to paying me, he’d probably be a Misfit right now).
To work I go!
note: this is not actually a really interesting story at all…and is quite boring at some times…so tl;dr for people that don’t wanna read it…I scammed a dude for ~150mil ISK…and he didn’t produce many Tears…that’s about it. I’ll make sure my other ones after this are much more entertaining…I just wanted to post some pictures for once (and the pictures aren’t even that impressive…lol)
[ 2011.03.01 23:06:34 ] Cyberin > greetings, just saw your post on the forums
[ 2011.03.01 23:07:06 ] Cyberin > we are recruiting at the moment, figured I’d tell you a bit about us then we can go from there
[ 2011.03.01 23:07:08 ] DingoGS > then you know what iam looking for
[ 2011.03.01 23:07:25 ] DingoGS > yupgo ahead, please
[ 2011.03.01 23:07:49 ] Cyberin > We currently live in NPC Nullsec (Syndicate) because there’s plenty of pvp out here, and we don’t really want the hassle of sov at the moment (not ruled out in the future)
[ 2011.03.01 23:08:28 ] Cyberin > we have at least 4-5 ops a week (usually 7 or more), that range from normal roams, to black ops stuff (redacted for OPSEC)
[ 2011.03.01 23:08:56 ] Cyberin > we are a member of a good sized alliance and one of the major players in the area of syndicate that we reside in, and a VERY laid back bunch of people
[ 2011.03.01 23:09:01 ] Cyberin > fly what you want, do what you want style
[ 2011.03.01 23:09:22 ] Cyberin > as well as plenty of knowledgeable people to help learn anything you may have questions about
[ 2011.03.01 23:09:56 ] Cyberin > and depending on how you prefer to fly, sometimes we roam in gangs of 5, sometimes we do it in gangs of 40, so there’s plenty to do
[ 2011.03.01 23:10:12 ] DingoGS > what timezone?
[ 2011.03.01 23:10:25 ] Cyberin > mostly US, a few euros
[ 2011.03.01 23:10:58 ] Cyberin > and to show how active we are, you can check out the killboard if interested http://droog.rwpcomputers.com/
[ 2011.03.01 23:11:10 ] DingoGS > (sec, checking)
[ 2011.03.01 23:12:49 ] DingoGS > so yall fly BC-BS sized stuff for the most part right?
[ 2011.03.01 23:13:02 ] Cyberin > normally BC and below t1/t2
[ 2011.03.01 23:13:17 ] Cyberin > sometimes BS (only when we know we can get a fight with them)
[ 2011.03.01 23:13:24 ] Cyberin > roams are generally BC and smaller though
[ 2011.03.01 23:13:51 ] Cyberin > sometimes when we get bored we’ll drop some carriers on idiots being stupid in syndicate for lols
I find the best thing to do, is get the info out there right away…and lay it on thick (actually, in this instance…pretty much all of what I said was true, because that’s the kind of corp he was looking for), but I tailor whatever I say to whatever the Mark is looking for.
[ 2011.03.01 23:14:05 ] DingoGS > nice, what about supplies, im a bit rusty on the map atm, so how do you get supplies in your 0.0 space if yall dont have sov? or its close enough to highsec
[ 2011.03.01 23:14:42 ] Cyberin > it’s about 8 jumps from highsec, and we have a jump freighter pilot and a few carriers for logistics
[ 2011.03.01 23:15:17 ] DingoGS > no ship replacement or anything like right?
[ 2011.03.01 23:15:29 ] DingoGS > so self sustanied pilots
[ 2011.03.01 23:16:00 ] Cyberin > the alliance offers inty and cruiser sized replacement i believe, and on ops the FCs usually tell everyone to give all the loot to people that lose ships
[ 2011.03.01 23:16:17 ] Cyberin > so you are expected to be sulf sustained, but normally you’ll get back something if you die
[ 2011.03.01 23:17:26 ] DingoGS > one last thing, you said you have around 4+ ops a week, however, in normal days where are no official ops going on, do yall have like normal gangs roaming around for fun?
[ 2011.03.01 23:17:44 ] DingoGS > i mean, aside from normal ops, i guess a normal day i can probably find a gang to have fun with?
[ 2011.03.01 23:18:18 ] Cyberin > there are normally people in the alliance roaming around, but we as a corp are actually trying to get some recruits in just for that purpose.
Another very important thing to get out is offering logistics services for their gear. In this case, this person didn’t actually have much of anything to bring out and needed time later to get stuff ready for movement…so meh on this guy…had to settle with what I got in the end…still better than nothing.
[ 2011.03.01 23:19:31 ] DingoGS > its ratting recommended in yalls system? meaning they are not often roamed by other enemy corps/alliances
[ 2011.03.01 23:20:06 ] DingoGS > im a awake player, but i dont like to play against odds lolz
[ 2011.03.01 23:20:13 ] DingoGS > (im just wondering)
[ 2011.03.01 23:20:32 ] Cyberin > there’s a few systems around here you can rat in yes
[ 2011.03.01 23:20:55 ] Cyberin > sometimes we’ll get some people in our home system that afk just to be annoying, but there’s like 4-5 other systems around here that are normally pretty empty
maybe lies, maybe not…who knows…bleh
[ 2011.03.01 23:22:31 ] DingoGS > okay, well to be honest it sounds really promising to me, however im not gona rush deciding and im gona wait to see what else i get offered with, i will probably make my decision tomorrow, its that cool with you?
[ 2011.03.01 23:23:24 ] Cyberin > yeah, just so you know though, if you do decide, we’ll need a limited API to review (background check) and we have a security deposit that you’ll get back after 4 weeks to insure you don’t steal anything from the corp hangers, etc
[ 2011.03.01 23:23:38 ] Cyberin > which is 150mil (because that’s about what’s in the hangers at all times)
[ 2011.03.01 23:24:38 ] DingoGS > hum, i may have to run some missions b4 joining then lolz, i have to buy my plex to remain playing so i wont have that much just yet
[ 2011.03.01 23:26:14 ] DingoGS > probably gona take me 3-4 days to make that much (probably less but hem)
[ 2011.03.01 23:26:17 ] DingoGS > meh)
have to make sure to get the fact about paying in near the end…that way they are already thinking about joining and it makes it less of a choice for them to make. Then, when he said he wanted to wait until tomorrow, I had to add in a bit more stuff to make him happy about it hoping he’d choose me over someone else.
[ 2011.03.01 23:26:23 ] Cyberin > lol, alrighty, we might be able to waive the fee or accept items as collateral for the short term, etc, will have to talk to the boss
[ 2011.03.01 23:26:45 ] Cyberin > there’s just so many people corp stealing these days we had to implement it to keep us safe at least
[ 2011.03.01 23:26:52 ] DingoGS > that would be wonderful =p i think i have a scorpion or hurricanes i can use for that lol
[ 2011.03.01 23:27:00 ] DingoGS > haha yeah i know, it have always been like this afaik
[ 2011.03.01 23:27:20 ] DingoGS > its the only game that i know with so much spying and backstabing and moles
[ 2011.03.01 23:27:24 ] DingoGS > but thats what makes it fun
[ 2011.03.01 23:29:05 ] Cyberin > yeah
Notice those last two lines right there? You’d think with knowing that, he’d be smart enough not to pay to join a corp. Oh well, more ISK for me.
Fast forward to today:
(I have removed a bunch of small talk from the rest of this chat log just to shorten it a bit, and it’s all not really relevant to anything anyway)
[ 2011.03.02 22:20:53 ] Cyberin > heya, just checking up to see how the corp search is going
[ 2011.03.02 22:21:01 ] DingoGS > hey
[ 2011.03.02 22:22:01 ] DingoGS > i am interested in joiningg
[ 2011.03.02 22:23:21 ] Cyberin > if you are interested in joining, one sec and i’ll get you a link to input your API into so i can review it
[ 2011.03.02 22:24:30 ] Cyberin > one sec and i’ll have that link, i seem to have misplaced it, lol
[ 2011.03.02 22:24:35 ] DingoGS > lol k

[ 2011.03.02 22:26:14 ] Cyberin > or that’ll work too, lol
[ 2011.03.02 22:27:11 ] DingoGS > okay
[ 2011.03.02 22:27:16 ] DingoGS > i inputed it
API stuff (feel free to check him out if you want to, I don’t think he’ll mind
) I usually get a limited API just so it’s not an issue with people not wanting to give full APIs. I also like to check to see what good stuff they have to steal…though, in order to do that you’d need a full API…just depends on my mood if I want full or not. I went with limited in this case because I knew he was just coming back and might not have much stuff…so I played it safe.
[ 2011.03.02 22:27:29 ] Cyberin > also, talked to the boss and he said it was cool if you don’t have the isk as the security deposit as long as you have items worth that much to use as collateral for the 4 week stasis period
[ 2011.03.02 22:27:50 ] DingoGS > i can give 100 mill isk and a scorpion for the time being
[ 2011.03.02 22:27:57 ] DingoGS > i will be broke after that tho lolz
[ 2011.03.02 22:28:27 ] Cyberin > alrighty

[ 2011.03.02 22:30:40 ] DingoGS > ty, one question tho
[ 2011.03.02 22:30:47 ] Cyberin > sure
[ 2011.03.02 22:30:56 ] DingoGS > if for any reason i want to leave b4 the 4 week period, will i get my stuff back?

[ 2011.03.02 22:31:29 ] Cyberin > as long as you don’t steal our stuff yes, you’ll get it back if you leave (after your roles are dropped)

[ 2011.03.02 22:33:04 ] Cyberin > just gimme a short sec while i finish looking over the API
[ 2011.03.02 22:33:10 ] DingoGS > kk
[ 2011.03.02 22:33:18 ] DingoGS > feel free to ask any question
Of course I will give your stuff back if you decide to leave. That would require to to be accepted though…which, most likely isn’t gonna happen sad to say.
[ 2011.03.02 22:34:27 ] Cyberin > alrighty, everything looks good if you want to go ahead and send the 100mil and contract scorp and put in an app we’ll get you accepted and in
[ 2011.03.02 22:34:45 ] DingoGS > to you?
[ 2011.03.02 22:35:19 ] Cyberin > you can contract it to me or the corp, either way is fine…I can stick it in the security hangers
[ 2011.03.02 22:35:20 ] DingoGS > i mean, i send the isk & contract to you?
[ 2011.03.02 22:35:27 ] DingoGS > k

[ 2011.03.02 22:38:12 ] Cyberin > got it
[ 2011.03.02 22:38:25 ] Cyberin > are you ready to move out here now or did you need time to get your stuff together to move?
[ 2011.03.02 22:38:53 ] DingoGS > ahm, i would need a bit of time to make isk and get me a ratting drake and some BBs to roam with
[ 2011.03.02 22:39:20 ] DingoGS > i just have my missin raven and a cane that its stuck somewhere
[ 2011.03.02 22:39:23 ] Cyberin > you’re API says you have 436,401,326.45 ISK, whatcha need more to buy a drake for, lol![]()
After this there is all kinds of stuff about him needing a plex and asking about ships to train for, etc…it’s way too many lines of boring stuff so I’m not leaving it on this post that’s turning out to be a lot more boring that I thought it would be…but hey…I have pictures!
[ 2011.03.02 22:40:30 ] Cyberin > alrighty, one sec and i’ll get you accepted, once you get your stuff together let us know and we can jump it down for you
[ 2011.03.02 22:45:49 ] Cyberin > ok, well…since you don’t have anything else for me to take, I guess now is a good time to tell you that you should NEVER pay people to join a corp…because it’s ALWAYS a scam
[ 2011.03.02 22:46:05 ] DingoGS > -.-
[ 2011.03.02 22:46:47 ] Cyberin > though, i might be obliged to give it back if you can make a good haiku about being scammed

[ 2011.03.02 22:50:08 ] Cyberin > we are actually recruiting, but one of our requirements is not being dumb enough to fall for recruitment scams sadly

[ 2011.03.02 22:51:17 ] Cyberin > i just recruited someone yesterday that was on guard, so that’s not entirely true
[ 2011.03.02 22:51:25 ] Cyberin > but anyway, haiku….really…get shit back
[ 2011.03.02 22:52:24 ] DingoGS > i took too much humilliation already =/ im not gona give you the pleasure, that i know its just 4 fun
[ 2011.03.02 22:52:38 ] DingoGS > maybe stupid once but not twice
[ 2011.03.02 22:53:04 ] Cyberin > lol, just for that i’ll give it back anyway, lol…
[ 2011.03.02 22:53:57 ] DingoGS > so i guess i lost all my chances to be recruited
[ 2011.03.02 22:54:04 ] Cyberin > Scorpion
[ 2011.03.02 22:54:15 ] DingoGS > lol
[ 2011.03.02 22:54:20 ] DingoGS > you really wana take me more money
[ 2011.03.02 22:54:23 ] DingoGS > im not that dumb
[ 2011.03.02 22:54:30 ] Cyberin > damn, had to make sure
[ 2011.03.02 22:54:42 ] DingoGS > as i said, stupid once, not twice =/
[ 2011.03.02 22:54:55 ] Cyberin > but yeah, shot gone…would be rather awkward being in a corp with people you’ve scammed…
[ 2011.03.02 22:55:42 ] DingoGS > =/
[ 2011.03.02 22:55:55 ] Cyberin > good luck finding a corp though, fly smart o/
[ 2011.03.02 22:56:25 ] DingoGS > have fun scamming ppl i guess =/
And done…I tried to see if he was dumb enough to accept the Scorpion back for $100mil…alas, he wizened up though…thanks for the fish Dingo!
Who cares about Sov?

Welcome to the twenty-fifth installment of the EVE Blog Banter, the monthly EVE Online blogging extravaganza created by CrazyKinux. The EVE Blog Banter involves an enthusiastic group of gaming bloggers, a common topic within the realm of EVE Online, and a week or so to post articles pertaining to the said topic. The resulting articles can either be short or quite extensive, either funny or dead serious, but are always a great fun to read! Any questions about the EVE Blog Banter should be directed to crazykinux@gmail.com. Check for other EVE Blog Banter articles at the bottom of this post!
This month’s topic comes to us from @Tetraetc – “Tetra’s EVE Blog” – who asks: “Have Alliances and the sovereignty system limited the amount of PVP and RP potential in Null sec? Imagine a Null Sec where anyone could build outposts wherever. Would the reduction of the alliance game mechanic, and the removal of the sovereignty game mechanics (or the modification of it from Alliance level to Corp level for that matter) force more PVP into Null sec, or would giant power blocs like the NC still form themselves?”
