They can be tamed

by Cyberin on Mar.12, 2010, under Captain's Log, Kill, Tears

So, I worked on this post for a little over an hour, highlighted 95% of it, then hit delete instead of control+C…and the wordpress autosaved…I was a bit upset with myself, but here I am, doing it again.

———-

Since I came back to EVE I’ve been doing a bit of Can Flipping and Ninjaing, while training a few basic skills. I’m going to be focussing on getting the learning skills up before the end of April though, that’s my goal…to have those at 5/4 and then throw in the basic core skills.

So, at the moment I’ve flying a Vigil, Probe, and a crappily skilled Rifter…along with my Orca alt to follow me around and do whatever I tell him to. I’ve had a bit of fun so far. :)

I’ve gotten 2 kills so far, so let me tell you a bit about them, and then I’ll get into a few short chat logs from recent Mission Runners…which I know you all are anxiously waiting for…though, they aren’t THAT good…give me time though! :D

This first kill is rather lackluster…but a kill is a kill. Not much to say about it so I won’t even bother with the chat log. The jist of the story is I stole some Ore from this noob in a navitas, he convo’d me and asked what I was doing. I told him I was sorry and he could have the ore back. He took it, said thank you, I blew him up…end of story.

The next one was a bit more entertaining for me. I was chilling in Fricoure, skimming through the belts looking for someone to play with before I started searching for some MRs. Low and Behold there is a retriever just happily mining away, tossing his unwanted ore into space. I couldn’t really figure out why he was mining if he didn’t want the ore, but whatever…I went over and took it.

He immediately locked me up, flipped the ore back into his own can, and sent his drones after me. Sweet! I locked up his drones, locked him, pointed him, and started chewing through his T1 drones. Then, silly old me turned off my point :( . (I had moved it to F2 and forgot about that, though I was reengaging my rockets…oops). Got him into armor and then he warped out.

So, I’m waiting in the belt for my Orca to warp in and grab the ore…when a flashy red Celestis drops in and locks me up while launching 4 more T1 drones. Wow…so I am getting lucky today. Off go my Meta 2 Autocannons and Rocket Launcher while I make sure to not turn off my point this time. Web and pop the drones, and then proceed the 5 minute ordeal of killing his cruiser (noob skills for the win?). During the process I switched ammo a few times to see what would work best, EMP S was the order of the day in the end. During this time the Orca managed to warp in and get me almost a full can of ore.

Then he blew up and warped to the station, where I promptly followed to see if he’d undock in something else. He undocked once in an Exquerer, and redocked when I shot him. After that he let the aggro run out while one of his corp mates warped in in an Ishtar…about 10 minutes after the corp aggro had warn out. Oops?

[ 2010.03.11 15:02:42 ] Ivanna Nuke > It holds the cowbell

Apparently Krunak (which by the way, is on my overview right now as I type this…/evilgrin) was blind and didn’t see how many people were attacking him. Usually I’d give him the shadow of a doubt that maybe he thought my drones were other attackers…but…um…I was in a Rifter.

And as you can see there at the end, Ivanna Nuke from over at Nukes Thoughts was there helping out in local…I must say though, he was rather fond of the Cowbell…talked about it all day. Go read his blog, I hand out with him from time to time and we are always talking about fun ways of getting Tears :) .

———-

Now, who wants those yummy Mission Runner tears I was talking about?

Episode 1:

This wasn’t really my MR…but there was a fellow Ninja from The Ninja Alliance channel running about in system, so I thought I’d give him a little help in local while he was collecting his own tears, I just felt like mentioning it here!

[ 2010.03.12 14:10:58 ] Doctor Holsten > Aranis LOL

[ 2010.03.12 14:12:33 ] Aranis Lyautey > Bad ninja bad
[ 2010.03.12 14:15:04 ] Doctor Holsten > Лошпедина)
[ 2010.03.12 14:15:08 ] Aranis Lyautey > Send more fanmail plz
[ 2010.03.12 14:17:03 ] Doctor Holsten > You Block///And -10 stending)Bye!
[ 2010.03.12 14:17:14 ] Aranis Lyautey > oh thank you QQ

Episode 2:

This guy was a trip…

Scanned me down a Kronos, and proceeded to start cleaning up his mess. He responded by shooting his wrecks for a little while :( .

[ 2010.03.12 14:50:37 ] Cyberin > that’s right, blow them ALL up…if you can’t have them, no one can! go go go gadget Urdnaxela
[ 2010.03.12 14:51:28 ] Urdnaxela Carab > fuck off
[ 2010.03.12 14:51:38 ] Cyberin > no thanks, got laid last night…i’m good
[ 2010.03.12 14:55:29 ] Cyberin > still lots of wrecks here…better get to shooting…i might get a few more!
[ 2010.03.12 14:56:26 ] Urdnaxela Carab > i’ll just let you have them
[ 2010.03.12 14:56:37 ] Cyberin > how nice of you :D
[ 2010.03.12 14:57:26 ] Cyberin > oh no Urd…you seem to have left 2 BS’s here…

Through the course of 6 minutes, he went from shooting wrecks, to tractoring them in vain as I just grabbed them out of his beams, to rage logging while still in the first pocket of his 3 pocket mission. I count that as a win, and being the generous person I am…I ran around and finished grabbing everything there was while I ignored the 2 Battleship NPCs shooting at me.

Episode 3: (Reason for Title…)

After the Kronos, I found a Navy Megathron hit and was hoping for some fun with him since they are usually whiny little bitches that like to shoot at you. I wasn’t rewarded with either of those really…but, it was entertaining anyway.

[ 2010.03.12 14:02:04 ] Stennar > cya o/

Was hoping for Tears, and all I get is “permission” to loot and salvage his stuff…as if I was going to ask him in the first place.

So, off I go, looting the decent stuff, salvaging…all the normal stuff. I finally get to the last room that he is in now and have the following conversation with him when he reopens convo after seeing that I looted. Not spectacular, but…I thought it was enjoyable…more enjoyable that the boring silence had been anyway.

See? They CAN be tamed! Oh, and in case anyone has any further questions…Stennar said I was good…so, it can’t be debated anymore!

That’s that for now…stay tuned for the 3rd Installment of my “Catch-Up” posts…where I continue to throw out my opinions of all the stuff that went on while I was away for a month or so.

And, as a final word…here’s something I saw on OMGRAWR at work the other day, and thought it fit me very well!

“I believe in Karma. Which means i can do bad things to people all day long, secure in the knowledge that they deserve it.”

Once upon a time, in a place 5 jumps away…

by Cyberin on Nov.18, 2009, under Captain's Log, Kill, Loss, Tears

I was sitting in Dodixie, Moon 20 Station, spinning my ship…when all of a sudden a thought hit me.  “Go find a noob to kill,” my mind said to myself…I agreed, so it was time to prepare.

Preparation was simple, load up the Orca alt with a Wolf, Hound, Cheetah, Rifter, Shuttle, Reaper, and a Hurricane; then pilot him over to Vittenyn while Cyberin brings along the Scorpion.  Of course, that’s a little out of order, because I actually went there in my Gank Catalyst first, killed a Retriever, and then when he came back in a Myrmidon, I decided to do all of the above in order to have a very high chance of getting to kill him.  So, after killing his Retriever…and Concord killing me…the saga begins…

And as always for the people who like a short version…I ganked a guy in a retriever, then killed his Myrm, then killed another guy later in an Incursus.  Seriously…read the rest of the post…it isn’t THAT long ;)

October Character Review

by Cyberin on Nov.10, 2009, under Character Updates

Well…as always, I said I was going to pay better attention to my skills and stuff like that for making these Character Review posts…but October was rather hectic…and then at the end of the month someone tried to break into my house so I’ve been busy getting an alarm system…calming the wife down, etc…so it’s a little late to boot!

———-

First off, on Cyberin…I still haven’t started working on my learning skills yet….still 40 days to go to get all the basics to level 5 and advanced to level 4…it’ll happen one of these days, I’ve just had other stuff that’s more important to me for the short term.

I worked on getting some drone skills up because I’ve decided I like them again.  Can use T2 Lights and Mediums, along with all the ECM, Logistics, and other drones like that.  I also worked on my Remote Repair skills and now have 2 fully fitting Remote Rep cruisers sitting in station for when they are needed…one for shield (Osprey) and one for armor (Exequror).

Somewhere in there I also decided to get my scanning skills up to level 3 all around, with a plan of getting them to 4 in the near future.  Other than that, I started training a few support skills that I’ve been neglecting…and then as I normally do, I try to buy all the skill book that’s I have the prereqs for (except those rather expensive ones) which is why I have so many level 1 skills…I just can’t help myself.  I think I also threw in some missioning skills (diplomacy, etc) somewhere in October…trying to get my standings up a little for selling/refining purposes.

Ship wise…I cross trained into a few other ships…I can fly all the T1 Frigates, all cruisers except Amarr, and Caldari Battleships now…along with Minmatar, Caldari, and Gallente Battlecruisers…although, weapon wise I have to use most of the high meta stuff…still gotta work on the fitting skills for them sometime.

———-

The Nameless Alt got into an Orca last week and I’ve been enjoying that a lot…already used it in one Corp salvaging op as a central base of operations…and it makes for an excellent time while I’m solo salvaging.  My plan now is to do a few more support skills to get a decent fit on the orca, and then I’ll be mixing my training time between skills for Logistics Ships, and Command Ships…since I want this guy to be purely a support character for me and other corp ops.

Also finished Cloaking IV so I can put that lovely Covert Ops cloak on the Blockade Runner!

Aug-Sep Character Review

by Cyberin on Oct.02, 2009, under Character Updates

Since I made the first Character Review post halfway through August, I decided to go ahead and wait until October to do the next one so I could get set for a regular monthly Review post.  So…here it is…not much to it, but who knows…someone might find it interesting.

———-

I decided not to do images like last time because I haven’t gotten photoshop working again since my computer died and recently got updated to Windows 7 to fix some errors.  So sadly, all you picture lovers (any Goons read the blog?) will have to wait until next month to see those beautiful pie charts.

I also forgot to print out my skillsheet for the first review post, so while I know I have more skills, I’m not 100% of which ones I trained recently, so this will just be a short overview of what I think I trained, and then I’ll start keeping better records to make future Reviews more in-depth and informative!

For Cyberin, I trained up some more scanning skills, a few T2 Frigates (CovOps, Stealth Bombers, Electronic Attack), T2 Small Autocannons and Artillery, T2 Small Projectile Ammo, and then some random other skills.  And when I say random, I do mean random.  I trained up for a crappy fit Drake to work in wormholes with, got the Caldari Cruiser just high enough to use it, then trained for a T2 (continue reading…)
