Hands Off, My Loots!

My turn! – My Evespace…

by Cyberin on Mar.06, 2010, under Community, General

While I sat on the midshift at work last night, I managed to get my backlog of google reader blog posts down from 500 or so to a little less than 100….it was an excellent night. Holy crap I missed a lot over the last month while I was gone. I plan on making a few posts over the next few days about the things that transpired during that time…this is the first.

Don’t want anyone to miss out on my awesome setup. (click images to open full size)

Where is my computer you may ask?  Well…interesting story.

Recently, my laptop started having some screen issues.  It would stay on for a bit, then the screen would just go black.  It still had a “glow” to it…so I figured it was the power inverter going bad.  It was pretty random, so I didn’t think it was a loose wire…but I took the laptop apart anyway, and confirmed there was no loose wires.  Then…I got an excellent idea…

My wife and I have the exact same laptop…so I took her inverter, put it on mine, put mine on hers…and…mine worked, her’s didn’t.  SUCCESS!!! That’s the problem…now all I need to do is buy a $50 inverter for my laptop screen.

What happens next?  Me being the impatient ass that I am didn’t take the batteries out while I was doing this…and while I was moving the 2 inverters back to the correct computers…I accidentally turned on the computers…yet…both of them.

Now, if you don’t know what an LCD Power Inverter is…to put it simply, there is too much power coming from a standard house plug, so the power inverter (through magic!) lesses the voltage going to the screen…so, if it isn’t there…it fries the screen…dead, blown, all gone, kaput…bad and sad :( .

So now, instead of needing a $50 piece, I need to buy 2 $300 lcd screens for my computers…which, I can’t really afford at the moment…so, I grabbed my two extra monitors (I did have dual screen setup in the office) and hooked them up to the laptops.  And, as to why it’s not in the office…well…we almost got robbed a few month ago and my wife is still paranoid…so I moved my laptop into the living room to be with her, and haven’t moved back yet.

So here you go…my “current” Evespace

So, secretly, you actually love ‘bears. Show this next time to convince them that you have nothing but their best interests at heart.

One of the best EVE-Space posts I’ve seen. I laughed and I boggled in alternate turns. Nice to see a somewhat ‘lived in’ EVE-Space for a change.

Nice digs. I like the couch/comp idea. Fly a little, snooze a little, fly a little, snooze a little. On second thought, that probably wouldn’t fit your normal TTPs very well. :-)

Very funny post (and glad you’re back!). I am a klutz, so if I tried that precarious setup with a monitor, it would get knocked over accidentally within a day. Also, I have one of those “guard dogs” too! Almost a twin to yours!

Yeah, I’ve already knocked it down twice…luckily I have that massive pillow (which me and my wife made ourselves by the way :D ) that it landed on. Though the first time it landed about half an inch from my 5 year old daughters headed…that would have hurt…

Nice Post. I’m a bot worried about your idea of ‘mine’, and ‘not mine’. I refer to the third picture in where you say no. 3 is not yours and no. 4 is yours.

    Cyberin, it should read.

    3. Not mine, yet.
    4. All mine.

That would mean I like Raisins…no thank you :D

Ahh, That’s what that is. Phew! I was getting worried.

You could just ninja them and sell them.
