Hands Off, My Loots!

Carebear turned Griefer

by Cyberin on Sep.06, 2009, under Community, General

It’s no secret that I used to be a carebear…and truthfully…I still am somewhat.  Although I now love to hear people whine when I take ‘their’ crap, I’m currently living in a wormhole and having fun out there…so it’s a bit of both for me.

Just read one of the posts over at Caldari Outcast and thought I’d have a little fun and take the test mentioned there…the Eve Personality Test.

Here…for all my lovely readers…are my results…

Please do take the test and leave a comment with your results :D

Eve is just a game. People tend to get really worked up about it, and this is highly amusing. The best moments of Eve is when someone throws a hissy fit after you pwned them when they didn’t expect it. You often use the “it’s a PvP game-line”, but what you really mean by that is that the game is supposed to be exploited and won. No trick is beneath you as long as it lets you get a laugh at the expense of someone else. Everything is valid until CCP says it’s not.

“you really mean by that is that the game is supposed to be exploited and won. No trick is beneath you as long as it lets you get a laugh at the expense of someone else.”

If you don’t enjoy actually playing, if you only enjoy winning, then, please, stop playing. You miss the whole point of life if you are only out to get your rocks off.

The personality test is so flawed and slanted that it isn’t even funny. To illustrate:

“In an economy report from late 2007, it was noted that 49% of active characters never ventured out of high sec. Disregarding the rest of the report, what do you think can be gathered from this number?”

Every griefer has an alt in high-sec. Piracy is too easy in Eve. The best way to make the game balanced is to restrict every person to one account with one character. If you can’t venture into high-sec, then you have to find someone else who will. If you want to scam, then you have to sacrifice your reputation. If you want to suicide gank, then you have actually have a friend you can trust loot the wreck.

I’m not saying don’t do these activities, I’m just saying that since people can avoid the consequences entirely too easily, that they do these things much more often than they normally would.

System security status is a matter of profit/no profit for you, and you always factor in the possibility/probability of PvP in your estimates. To you, Eve isn’t a PvP or a PvE game. It’s a simulation of capitalizm in its purest form, and a place where the savvy wins the day. My Enter button aint working :/

So what…you’re just supposed to be bored of life? That statement doesn’t make much sense…what’s wrong with enjoying yourself?

As for the rest of your comment, while I appreciate your opinion, it’s exactly that…an opinion. I for one, don’t agree that piracy is easy in eve…if it was easy…pirates wouldn’t need that highsec alt. Also…there is a BIG difference between a griefer and a pirate in the context of EVE.

Been out of the world for a while and didn't have a chance to say congrats on the blog pack add! Also, to the people freaking out, I have a funny fealing way down in bottom of the shriveled husk some people call my heart that that personality test isn't supposed to be a peer reviewed American Psycology Association tool, and more of a cutesy "here's some funny." Kind of in the vein of those Myspace tests. Anyone SEE the icon for conqueror? :-)
